Pt. Sanjay Garud, a distinguished exponent of the Kirana Gharana, has inherited the rich legacy of Indian classical music from a very young age. Introduced to music through Bhajans by his father and grandfather, Shri Maruti Garud, he began singing at the age of nine and gradually emerged as a promising classical vocalist. Widely appreciated for his performances across Maharashtra, he underwent intensive classical training for 13 years under Late Pt. Shrikant Deshpande(Grandson of sawai gandharav) disciple of Bharat Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi.

Through this strong guru–shishya parampara, Pt. Sanjay Garud mastered Khayal, Thumri, Dadra, and Bhajans, preserving the purity of the Kirana Gharana style. He has performed at prestigious festivals including the Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav (2011, 2022). Alongside his musical career, he earned a Ph.D. in Indian Classical Vocal Music from Hessen International Universität, Germany. In 1999, he founded Brahmanad Kala Mandal, which proudly celebrates 25 years of service in 2026.

Pt. Sanjay Garud, a distinguished exponent of the Kirana Gharana, has inherited the rich legacy of Indian classical music from a very young age. He was introduced to music through Bhajans by his father and grandfather, Shri Maruti Garud, a renowned Pakhawaj and Tabla player. Sanjay Garud began singing Bhajans at the age of nine and gradually emerged as a promising classical vocalist. He has been widely appreciated for his performances at various prestigious stage concerts across Maharashtra.

He underwent intensive classical training for 13 years under the guidance of Late Pt. Shrikant Deshpande, an eminent disciple of Bharat Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi and grandson of Sawai Gandharva. Through this strong guru–shishya parampara, Pt. Sanjay Garud mastered the art of Classical Vocal Music, including Khayal, Thumri, Dadra, and Bhajans, preserving the purity and depth of the Kirana Gharana style. He has performed at several renowned music festivals, including the prestigious Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav in 2011 and 2019, where he showcased his refined artistry and classical excellence. He is a regular performer on prominent classical platforms.

Alongside his musical career, Pt. Sanjay Garud has also achieved remarkable academic success. He completed his Ph.D. (Doctorate) in Indian Classical Vocal Music from Hessen International Universität, Germany. His doctoral journey reflects years of dedication, struggle, consistency, and deep commitment to the art of classical music, making him a respected performer as well as a scholar.

In the year 1999, Pt. Sanjay Garud founded Brahmanad Kala Mandal, a cultural institution dedicated to the preservation, promotion, and teaching of Indian classical music. In 2026, the institution proudly completes 25 years of continuous service in the field of music education. The institution stands today as a symbol of disciplined training, traditional values, and sincere dedication to the Guru–Shishya Parampara.
